which holds a mosaic glass swimming pool
as well as a massage room and poolside
bar, is connected to the main house via an
underground passage, a feature that comes
in handy when winter storms drop six feet
of snow. There is also a guest house, art studio,
boathouse, gym with basketball court,
stable, and staff housing. “Each building is
able to enjoy the surroundings without
encroaching on the other,” Chase says.
While the property has received a lot of
interest from curiosity seekers, architectural
students, and international buyers, Chase
says the ideal buyer will ultimately come
from California. “The main reason to buy
this home is for lifestyle, but you have to
want this kind of lifestyle,” she says. Tranquility
is well-suited for the recreationalist
with stables that allow quick access to miles
of riding trails, a lake stocked with brown
trout, and two over-the-water, par-three
golf holes. For skiers, the Heavenly Mountain
Resort is a 10-minute drive away. “It’s
an intriguing location,” Chase says. “You
can go to Virginia City for camel races or
visit Squaw Valley, home of the Olympics.”
While the owners took years to furnish
and embellish the home and its respective
buildings, the new buyers won’t
have to worry about decorating. “The
home is being sold furnished,” Chase says.
“It was a big decision for them, but they
thought a buyer would appreciate seeing
that it was ready to go. They just have to
bring their toothbrush.” LI
